    Shoe In

Shoe I said before and I will say it again you are a FF Hack and seen that you are singing the praises of FF you did not know the Man from Castletown Bill Delaney had passed away. Shoe In you like the party you follow out of touch.
Shoe in you blogs are very swayed towards FF and full of false information you are trying to mimic by the use of this forum like the RTE Programme of Bertie (Propaganda).

I believe FF are not holding conventions this year it will be done on an interview basis so Michael Moloney may get a call from the Biffo to run on their ticket.

    Any views please?

Fair point but not everyone interested in these upcoming elections has countywide knowledge.

Lets not discuss the late Bill Delaney in this way anymore. There is no harm in discussing where his seat is going to go.

Has anyone got any sneak previews of the draft register? I know Monday will be a busy day for all the candidates perusing this file but the only major surprise I can think of is the amount of non Irish born people who will be on it.

I mean it could be lots , it could be minimal.

I know of at least one Polish national who has expressed interest in running for a local authority in another part of the country.

We will know Monday if the non national vote in Laois will have any influnce in the outcome on some electoral areas.

I say the debate is silly at this stage as some parties have not even announced their candidates yet. Yes the question of our rivers pollution and maintaince this council is an utter disgrace. I moved from Dublin to Laois a number of years ago. I was lived near the river Dodder a fantastic river, a river that managed to survive serious pollution dispite the fact that Tallaght the size of a small city grew up around its banks. This was down to proper monitoring by the council and the Dodder Angling Club, which I am proud to be a member. A river should be the jewel in any town, villege or city. Not here in Laois were the main polluters are the council themselves, shame on them. And shame on all the public reps that have done little or nothing to stop and protect this natural resource. Will the rivers in laois vanish like the railway station and the canal?.

Candidates might not be announced but I would say almost all are decided on.

So predictions on who might make up the council for the next 5 years are hardly silly.

They will be the ones deciding on the policies that affect our environment.

So lets hope we get councillors competent enough to deal with it and the other issues facing the county.

Lets please get on to real issues that affect real people and away from fantasy politics that may or may not happen if such and such might run in whatever electoral area in the county with or without percentages and numbers next June.
Can any public reps, or party hacks on this thread please inform me how they would handle the scandalous situation where there are in excess of 800 people on the council’s house waiting list in the county?
I would also be interested in learning how non- aligned party political animals on this site would handle this same issue?

    Portlaoise

This is my prediction for portlaoise and lads its just an opinion

    FF2
    FG2
    IND2
    SF1

I assume tom jacob will defend his seat as an indo.
I think Jim o Brien if he runs will put down a marker but i cant see him get more than 300 votes this time, No disrespect Jim.

For political junkies who want to see a real dog fight Emo will be the one to watch thats for sure.

The infamous former Mayor in my opinion wont feature.

    Portlaosie Electorial area

Your prediction for the Portlaoise area is

    2 FF
    2 FG
    1 SF
    2 Independents

Tom Jacob will get a seat, probably .
    Surely not another ind.

Who do you reckon will get the second Indepenent Seat. ????????

I would be surprised if that figure is correct. I thought L C C was one of the better councils for dealing with housing waitng lists.
Can you confirm that this is the official council figure?

It is possible to get this information.
