Roadside spat keeps Fine Gael arch rivals in the ring

McGuinness supporters have complained that their billboard on the Drogheda to Dublin road was blocked from view by a car used by Fergus O'Dowd's (another Fine Gael candidate) car.

The McGuinness camp says it was erected near the Europa Hotel in Co Meath, wishing Louth good luck in their Croke Park tussle with Wicklow. But Mr O'Dowd shrugged off the incident as a minor one, putting it down to "over-exuberance in a competitive campaign".

more childish behaviour in the hope of "creating " a spat between two FG candidates a la the Mc Guinness/Doyle spat that won them two in the Euro's.

Haven't they learned anything from the Mc Dowell pole climbing incident last week.

I would have given Mairead Mc Guinness more credit than thinking of her as a "one trick pony"

What a load of bloody nonsense - how can people take FG seriously when they engage in such childish behaviour - they can get two seats if they would work with each other not against each other

Oh yes, because this type of behaviour is limited to FG?

We are not good at that sort of thing in Ireland. If you want to see a political spat, check out the parliaments in Taiwan and sometimes Italy. Those are spats.

This is Irish politics at its most primal, shorn of all the clutter of principles, manifestos and ideological bullsh!t.

Christ, when two candidates are marking each other outside of their own bloody constituency, things must be hot.
