    Cross Party Families

Yes, i am very bored! Anyway, to alleviate my boredom, does anyone know of any husband/wives, brothers/sisters etc, who run, have run, are reps for DIFFERENT parties.... i'll start the ball rolling:

Frank Leddin, Labour City councillor in Limerick for years, his brother Tim was a Fine Gael Councillor at same time. their son or nephew Joe Leddin is current Labour Mayor of Limerick.

Miriam McGillicuddy, Labour Councillor in Tralee, was, (i am pretty sure, correct me if i'm wrong), married to Brian Curtin, who stood against her for the PD's

JJ Power (Green) is running against his brother Seán Power (FF) in Kildare South this time around I think.

There's two sisters who are councillors in Galway at the moment, Cathrien and Collette Connolly. they were both Labour in 2004 but stood in different wards.

Apart from the Power connection (who are both running in Kildare South) why is this post under the Kildare North board?

Potentially interesting subject matter just don't think belongs here.

Catherine has gone independent now. Not sure if Collette has jumped ship too.

collette hasn't jumped ship, YET. expected she will when election is called. if she canvasses for sis, she'll be thrown out. pity, labour were getting really strong in galway, real potential, all being thrown away it seems... the other 'relative' connection here is that collette and catherine's sister is Declan Bree's partner

Yeah, that's why I said they were both Labour.

Don't forget Fine Gael's Jim Higgins, MEP, and his brother, the general secretary of the PDs. And Jim McDaid (FF) and his son Gareth McDaid (Greens). Then there was also FF's Erskine Hamilton Childers, the fourth president of Ireland, and his daughter Nessa, now a Green party councillor.

Jim Higgins MEP (FG) and John Higgins (PD Chairman)
Garrett Fitzgerald (FG) and Eithne Fitzgerald (Labour) (I think they are related but unsure)
Jim McDaid (FF) and Garrett McDaid (Green)
Erskine Childers (FF) and daughter Nessa Childers (Green)
George Colley (FF) and daughter Anne Colley (PD)
