De Burca delivers deal for Greystones developers??

So, the presence of John Gormley as Environment Minister and the elevation of local councillor Deirdre de Burca to Senator had no effect of this decision.... Gormley failed to exercise his powers under the Planning Acts to express concern about this monstrosity to the Chair of ABP before the board met to decide. Did De Burca fail to bring any pressure to bear on Gormley over this?

It's all very well blaming the FF and FG gang -- and not even a double-digit vote went to any of them from our house, nor will it ever again -- but it seems to me that this 'local' story encapsulates the failure of the Green Party to deliver anything of their policies. They won't be getting even a double-digit preference here in future, either. That leaves People before Profiit, Labour, SF and staunch independents like Evelyn Cawley.

Hmmm... Not too bad -- wouldn't mind such a coalition of the willing.

As reported currently by RTE, and a deal that should be of concern to all:

In what appears to be a deal with developers, beyond the remit of An Bord Pleanala, permission has been granted for a €300m development of a private 230 berth marina and 341 apartments to be built on Greystones beach.

The plan, promoted solely by Fine Gael and Fianna Fail coucillors was and is, vehemently opposed by local residents and many others.

    An Bord Pleanala Controversial Decision

What motivation an Bord Pleanala had to sit down with developers to make this application feasible is open to speculation. The inspector who chaired the oral hearing submitted a negative report i.e. recommending that this project does not go ahead due to the many environmental, social and safety concerns.

    Something stinks.

    This is what is planned!
