    Kildare South GE 2007??

So who will be the declared candidates and any surprises?
Jack Wall of course, running mate?
Sean Power and Sean O Fearghail, another candidate?
Perhaps Fitzgibbon for the Greens, cant remember for the life of me who ran for them last time..
    Any indepents? Cliff T Reid?
FG: The big one: who will actually run to win back Dukes seat?

I have heard that the is a definitie FG seat from a local FFer and that Sean Powers seat is very vulnerable but seemingly the boundary changes havent affected his vote very much..

That's Fitzgerald. Cllr. Shane Fitzgerald. He's in Leixlip though, in Kildare North.

Our candidate in the 2002 general election (which happened before boundary changes pushed him into Kildare North) was Cllr. JJ Power.

Very hard to see FF keeping their two seats here- even if they had a good day.
For a ticket of two minnows to get two seats, and for McCreevy in Kildare north to miss out on a second, was the luck of the century.

FG really need a seat here
Is Fionnuala Dukes their best shot ?

No Ger Fitzgibbon who ran in the last GE as an Independent and in the LE as a Green. From Kildare town.

The Chief would you think FF will find it hard to keep the two seats. A ffer told me that too but from what I see, their two seats are safe. If we do get a seat my guess is it will be at the expense of Labours Jack Wall.
And Fionnuala wont be running. (I dont know how many times Ive said that).

Not at all but I wasnt making a point per se, just saying I was talking bout someone else. And yes I thought JJ ran for Kildare Sth alright but him moving over to Nth just confused me!

FG certainly have a seat for the taking, but it could be any one of the other three sitting TD's. My gut feeling is that O'Fearghail is the most vulnerable although Cllr. Mark Dalton is now working fulltime for him in Athy.

Who will run for Fine Gael? I think it'll be two candidates one from the Kildare\Newbridge end of the constituency and one from the south. I think there's an obvious choice for the southern berth, so it'll be interesting to see what names start to appear for the other spot.
