Is P.ie being used to spin against Labour?

When I initially started using Politics.ie I thought the Labour forum would be a nice place for a party member (like myself) to keep up to date on all things Labour.

Having reviewed the discussions on each party in Politics.ie, there is a definite trend for the Labour threads to be attacks on the leadership, HO personnel, etc.

    There are two possibilities:
    1) The Labour party has more infighting than the others (possible, but I don't think so) or
    2) Labour is seen as a Party that can eat into almost any other party's vote and is therefore a threat.

Does anyone agree that a disproportionate number of Labour threads are started more by opponents of the party than by members?

You have got to be joking
The Progressive Democrats and Sinn Fein are the most regularly villified parties on this forum.

Labour have a couple of bad opinion poll results and you think the whole fking world is against you?

Many of the Labour members here seem to be quite fed up with the party hierarchy and decisions made (especially the FG pact)
Allied to this Labour Youth seem to be a different creation entirely to the senior party - not hard I suppose when all the TD's are 50+
Also there doesn't seem to be the same loyalty amongst Labour members of this forua than other party hacks/members...is this because of the DL/Labour merger and a perceived rearguard takeover?

Yes, indeed, it was ye I was thinking of when I was thinking of a party full of more arguementative people than ourselves. However, you are missing my point, I don't think it is Labour members who think the sky is falling in, I think its FFrs, Shinners and even your good selves spinning against Labour.

To be honest, we could,nt care less about Labour. I mean its not like a swing voter will go PD or LAB?
A swing voter will go LAB or SF.
Our Swing voters will go PD or FG or FF.
Whilst we are in competition politically, we are not really in competition for voters.
I think most will know what way they swing (left or right) by the time they get to the ballot box.

Barbarian, You wouldn't be a FF'r using this thread to suggest that Labour people are disaffected, would you?

In fairness, you want to be pretty sad to believe that spending time on this site, "spinning" against anybody, is a worthful use of political effort. Elections are won on doorsteps. This is all just political masturbation.

I used to think that too but the transfer patterns don't show that. While it is true that a Labour member cannot mate with a PD member, voters seem to be able to cross the species line quite easily. I think politicos think in terms of left and wrong, but the vast majority vote for the local guy / girl.

Conversly, Labour's vote is the most volatille and can be targeted most easily. At this stage I say this is very much on the minds of both FF and SF.
