Interesting to note that the Labour Party offered no support to Thomas Cook workers

Cllr Richard Boyd Barrett of the SWP and Cllr Matt Waine of the Socialist Party were both arrested while standing by the workers. Many Trade Unionists were also in the building with them and were arrested. Even the shinners and Eirigi had the decency to show up outside for the rally. But once again the right wing Labour Party has betrayed the workers and was was found to be missing in action. No doubt the Labour opportunists and traitors are trying to attract that petit bourgeois vote and they didn't want be be seen as having the gall to disrespect property rights. Connolly must be turning in his grave.

You would not have to be a socialist to support those workers....

Wasn't Emer Costello part of the picket group, anyway Labour need to get their sorry asses back to economic reality and realise that the country is bankrupt. Mind you Labour were also very quiet about the electricians strike because there was very little public support for the electricians.

They're social democrats, not socialists. Of course they respect property rights and don't see what the big deal is when an employer offers 2.5x the statutory redundancy to it's employees.

    Well, no surprise there!

Its about time Labour changes its name to something more appropriate... maybe the UFC party? Union Fat Cats party perhaps?

The Thomas Cook workers are private sector. Labour are only interested in public sector workers. Piggies at the trough.

I don't think the Cook workers have that much public sympathy on their side beyond the usual hangers on. I've spoken about it to about 5 or 6 people, all of whom thought they had gotten a very very generous offer to begin with.
