That's such a worthless analysis of Irish society that it's not worth even engaging with. Basically it comes from the yfg school of, all working class people are skangers in tracksuits ready to rob your car.Instead, we have a diamond-shaped society. The vast bulk of people are happily middle-class with an isolated underclass and a privileged oligarchy existing untouched at the edges.

Load of balls. Plently of working class people in FG. More significant, plently of workin class people don't vote labour. Labour gets middle class votes as far as I can make out.
It was a go at Fintan O'Toole and she hit the mark.
Carey's piece was as facile as it was deluded - full of cliche and silly analogising. It's also a woefully stupid assessment of the current situation. It's an appeal to the hard-core wooden-brained Fianna Fail voters who still don't get what has just happened: that their heroes all turned out to be liars and thieves; that the best of them turned out to be the most incompetent people in Ireland. Carey doesn't even begin to understand what has brought the economic disaster upon us. But then being as silly and smug as she is, that's understandable.

She's correct on that. We need more ideological-balance in our State broadcaster. It is too dominated by the Left.
You must be living on another planet FT. RTE is the most craven government whore of a media outlet of any western country. The problem for people like yourself is that you think ANY mention of another point of view is some sort of outrageous aberration while the 98% of what you hear that is mind-numbingly conformist passes you by as what only appears to be normal - to you. The upshot is that when someone like yourself hears, say, three relatively favourable mentions of a Labour party statement or whatever, you are outraged. You don't seem to notice the massively government biased coverage in which those statements are contextualised.
