Sarah Carey wrote the following in the Irish Times:

There is NO shortage of Industrial Land in Co. Meath, Empty units lie everywhere

However, regardless of that the following happened:

'in material contravention of the Meath County Development Plan'

and now again, to return to Sarah's OWN WORDS:

    Now, what say you?
One more time for the cheap seats. Are you saying that Sarah Carey or any member of her family have ever taken bribes?
Yes or No? Simple answer please!

Now, back to the subject at hand. Feel free to start a new thread if you feel so strongly about the Carey family. I take your diversionary tactic as a sign you don't want to debate the artcile which she wrote. Fair enough, you don't have to comment if you don't like.

Sarah Carey ripped Fintan O'Toole to pieces. Anybody want to debate the wto articles?

Could not agree more. Gilmore seems to have learned his lesson though. I don't think Sarah Carey's article was directed so much at him than at Fintan O'Toole.

A really good article by Carey, for a change.

Reading back over Fintan's plea to Labour to break the Coke & Pepsi politics I think you are right..

O'Toole premise that Labour should avoid any form of coalition in order to create a clear left and right in Irish politics is wonderful in theory but how on earth does he imagine the government will be formed in the meantime?

I think that was the crux of Carey'ss article. Labour, in spite of all the wishful thinking, must engage in realpolitik.

Are you implying bribery? If so, say so. There is nothing wrong with rezoning land if it needs to be rezoned. Do you have any evidence that the land did not need to be rezoned? Do you have any evidence that bribes were made?
Is that you Sarah? Posting comments on your own articles?

READ MY POSTS, you are the one talking about bribes / rewards / returns

Sarah has questions to answer with with respect to her published comments and her fathers voting record on rezoning land in material contravention of the County development plan.

Sarah Carey is a ghastly little suck up who will write anything that is likely to put her in Madam's good books. She's straining very hard to make herself a darling of the establishment right. Pity she's such a crap columnist though. As for Fintan O' Toole, I'd say her silly wittering is the equivalent of a scarcely audible midge flying about the room.

O' Toole is bang on the money about the Labour Party. There is a need for a strong party of the left in Ireland. We have more than enough right wing, reactionary politicians for one small Island and Spring's disastrous modernisation has rendered Labour into something resembling a soggy lettuce leaf. 'Realpolitik' is the last thing this country needs right now: it's just a jaded euphemism for corruption, cronyism and carrying with all the failed policies and philosophies which have destroyed us.
