    Working with Sinn Fein

If a general election was called tomorrow and Labour had the chance to go into government with one of the major parties and the Shinners, would ye do it? What I'm trying to find out is if ye see Sinn Fein as an acceptable coalition parter, given that your policies and worldview (excluding the republicanism) aren't all that different.

Labour and SF agreeing on a broad range of issues would not be a problem at all.

It would be an alliance of the left and therefore good for the poor, public services, workers rights, equality, and the rights of the LGBT community.

SF shouldn't be let anywhere near government and any party that lets them will promply get the boot from the electorate. There actions in the past are still too recent, and IMO they haven't proved themselves clean from subversive activity against the state.

If labour are so idiotic to think they can string along with people that spent years supporting traitors and attempting to overthrow the government of the poeple just to get in power they'll get a rude awakening.

They haven't gone away you know.

I've no problem with Labour or anyone else working with SF. I would, however, advise them to check beneath the table before sitting down with them, though.

I don't agree. Their past can't be held against them forever and they are sitting in government in the north with few problems. If the numbers are needed then Sinn Fein will be brought in.

The thing that put many of us off them at the last election was their apparent economic incompetence. But look who we elected!

I do not care who gets in but one important thing i hope for everyone's sake that it will be a signal for the removal of Fianna Fail from office for all time.IF S.F get elected thet are entitled to be there as much as anyone else, who gave the authority for one elected member to look down on another.
