Was Eamon Gilmore ever in the official IRA?

1. Can somebody please explain what the term "stickie" signifies ?

Most people, including many who will be voting for Gilmore's party, have no idea what ths means.

2. Why is getting Gilmore to tell the truth about this episode so difficult ?

3. How come RTE never discussed the fact that his wife got half a million for a corner of a field in the middle of nowhere in Galway, at all ? Even when the same department that paid this money to her, happens to employ her in a management capacity in DL VEC ?

4. Gerry Adams asked the question last week "you have been repeatedly asking me if I was a member of the IRA, why don't you ask other people questions about their past....why don't you ask Eamon Gilmore?"
What is Adams saying ? It sounds to me that Adams knows a lot about Eamon Gilmore's past.

5. Why has there been no discussion in the Irish media, about the trips that Workers Party senior officials made to the Soviet Union in the 1980s ?

6. Why has there been no mention of the fact that Erich Honnecker had a soft spot for the Workers Party in Ireland, sending them greetings for the annual party rally ?

7. What did MacGiolla, De Rossa and his chums get from CJ Haughey, in return for supporting his minority government in the early 1980s ? Jobs for activists in RTE maybe ? (Like Harris got...) They had to have received something. Haughey would do anything to get power.

8. Why does the Irish Times make an enormous issue about Adams, and never seems to ever mention anything with to regard Gilmore's past ? What about RTE ? RTE seem to make a big issue about everybody's past, but it seems that Gilmore has no past at all, except as something a bit like the present.....very suspect treatment by RTE.

9. How many of you remember Prionsias de Rossa making an apology in Irish for advertising state jobs in an internal Democratic Left party publication, when these jobs were not advertised in the mainstream media ? Did the Irish times give up a stink, or dodge the issue ?

10. Given all the rumours about fundraising activities by the Workers Party in the 1980s, what was Gilmore's exact involvement or responsibility in this regard ? Did Gilmore know how how money was sourced for activities ?

Waters has a very good article in the Times today.

When you consider what people sacrificed for this country in its hour of need, it's an appalling insult to their memory and an absolutely sickening betrayal of their ideals, that we have ended up with Gilmore, a complete non-entity and windbag if ever there was one, as Tanaiste.
