Is Labour set to be finished in the South West?

Spring is already gone and now Moynihan-Cronin is bowing out. Will her seat go to FG.

In 2002, FG had more votes than Labour in Kerry South but ran 2 candidates and cocked the thing up. So in 2004 FG got some 9000 votes to Labours 3000 in Kerry South. Are they finished down there?

I would not be so disillusioned. There is an outside possibility of Terry O'Brien taking the seat in Kerry North after the FF selection convention that threw up Mac and Norma Foley. FF could really have shot themselves in the foot here geographically and on a bad day their 1 seat would be lost here.

Kerry South looks less promising at the moment but you will have to wait for confirmation as to runners and riders with all sorts of permetations abounding for FG and Lab candidates. Latest flyer here is of Labour approaching foootballer Seamus Moynihan. Although expect a lot of GAA names to be thrown in the air in the coming months. Any possibility of peace breaking out with former Lab and current SKIA Cllr. Michael Glesson! He would be a more realistic labour candidate if he could be tempted back.
