Dermot Lacey sold out to get his filthy little feet inside the mansion house.
All in all a motley crew of good for nothings.

Actually, that was Anthony Creevey sold out to FF to spend 3 weeks in the Mansion house before decamping to Kildare!
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

I usually refrain from attacking the idiotic and the misinformed - in this case I am referring to the gimp- but I will not let my integrity go unchallenged.

For the record I think I had about sixteen weeks to go in my term as Lord Mayor when I made the decision in relation to the City Estimates. On a personal level I was more concerned as to what impact my breaking with Party ranks would have on my normal employment since I was on leave of absence from the Labour Party as a full time staff member to serve as Lord Mayor. Given that I am the only salaried person in my family and have two young children that was a matter for concern.

However I knew that I had accepted the office of Lord Mayor and with that went responsibilities. To use my casting vote against the Estimates would have meant the dissolution of Dublin City Council. I do not believe that was in the interests of the people or City of Dublin. That was my one and only motivation. For the record the number of Councillors who acknowledged that privately amounted to more than three-quarters of the Council.

I have also gone on record time and time again that I have no principled objection to Service Charges. In fact I support increased fund raising powers for Councillors because I believe that an enhanced local Government system is the best way to achieve progress for ordinary people.

So "The Gimp" argue and debate with me anytime about politics or about the future of the City of Dublin but don't dare to question my honesty or integrity. I have spent nearly twenty years actively pursuing what I believe is best for Dublin. I am not always right but I am always honest.

mmm... tell that to the dis-advantaged people of Darndale and coolock who are scraping by with the few pennies they have or those with 4 or 5 kid's or single mothers in council estates now having to fork out on service charges which they can't afford, they did'nt have a choice did they? but you did...

What would have happened? Would they not have had to pay the charges?

Also, wouldn't these disadvantaged people scraping pennies together probably be eligible for the waiver?
