This, therefore, should really be no surprise to the public as during this parliament the Labour party have signed up lock, stock and barrel to right wing ideology whilst inventing policies that have been copied and implemented by the UK Conservative party (for example. . reducing welfare payments for under 26 YOs).

It should also seem unsurprising when one considers that Ruairi Quinn (who oddly proclaims himself a "socialist" despite Ivan Yates once stating he was the most right wing member of the Rainbow 1990s cabinet that Yates was a member of) threatened teaching unions with job losses in 2013.

There is also a useful comparison to be made with what the Irish LP refer to as their sister party in the UK . . led by Jeremy Corbyn. Whereas Corbyn was elected with widespread support (including the unions) the Irish LP are now stating that they no longer need the unions and indeed do not represent people who are in unions.

This is, of course, a remarkable volte face for the LP who fought the last campaign in 2011 on the basis of "Vote for us and we'll protect you from FG"

Is there room on the right for the LP?

I don't think there is and I also believe that this will be a fatal move for the LP. . Leaving them as nothing other than a small rump who will seem primarily obsessed with who people are having sex with and whether they can have abortions or not.

Is the end nigh for Labour?
Would you like SIPTU to link to another political party? If so, which one would your recommend? In the past was not SIPTU in reality linked to FF? Certainly FF championed themselves as linked to the unions. That great socialist the Bert loved the unions!

I think is healthier for SIPTU that SIPTU does not fund any political party.

And particularly one that delivers for the Anglo Bondholders, Tax Non doms, Pillar Banks, NAMA, the legal profession, etc...

It's up to SIPTU to decide who they want to affiliate themselves with.

It seems to me that they no longer associate themselves with a party set up by the trade unions in 1912. . . The LP.

In reality RW has a problem with his own former union. He left after the members voted in a way he didn't like rather than continue the fight within. Even megaphone man in ASTI remained within as far as I know.

Again. . another attempt by the FG/Labour spoofers to derail the thread by discussing me.

I appreciate that it must be desperately embarrassing for you that the trade union who set you up want nothing more to do with you. . . But hey. . Let's talk about me.

In blueshirt land the questioning is normally done by the heavy gang and not answering is not allowed, it's the way you like it ain't it?.
