Brendan Howlin Admits Labour Is No Longer Left Wing

Brendan Howlin on why left-wing parties “thrive in chaos”

What I find interesting in this interview is two things:

First, that even Labour members are now saying they are no longer 'left-wing', which is already been apparent through their actions while in government, but now we are hearing the actual party members tell us this first hand like Burton and now Howlin as they attack the 'left-wing' parties.

But secondly, the fact he says left-wing parties 'thrive in chaos'. By that he means left-wing parties are polling well and getting great results due to the current chaos...which he seems to think is completely detached from his actions or is just so ignorant he doesn't even realise his party is in power, and the 'chaos' of which he speaks is there due to the actions he and his party have taken.

So would that be a fair assessment then for all you Labour supporters? That Labour is no longer left-wing, meaning they are more right-wing or at least centre-right and that right now the country is in chaos, thanks to how this government has performed while Labour was in government?

    Rubbish.

Fact of the matter is despite being the minority party in Government, the minimum wage was restored, welfare payments have been protected, collective bargaining legislation going to cabinet, low pay mechanisms being restored.

Fairly left wing policies being implemented I'd say.

Labour have not been left wing in decades. The surprise was how
easily they fell in with fg and theres no real difference between the 2 parties.

Shane ross had an article last week about how many labour tds are landlords
    with investment properties.

    Not exactly a socialist principle.

Bullsh!t. They're also overseeing the privatisation of transport services, introduction of water charges on struggling families, cuts to several welfare payments, taking medical cards off disabled children and children with cancer etc.....

They're a joke. Wonder if they sung the ''red flag'' again at their conference this year

Did the irony of his pronouncement dawn on him at all after he uttered it I wonder?

Labour are socially left wing, in the sense that they're concerned whether a fella with a willy who dresses up as a woman should be allowed use the women's toilets.....things like that.

When it comes to economics, they're right wing.....

Nobody who is serious about being in Government is Left wing.

The electorate have long since discovered the fallacy of the State being able to manage their money better than they can themselves.
