This is a worrying development for the Labour Party. After a disappointing general election campaign the only person to stand for the leadership is someone who cuts the same cloth as Rabbitte.
It, of course, remains to be seen how Gilmore performs, but on the face of it all it looks like is more of the same.
It would be far healthier for somebody, anybody, in the labour party to stick their necks out and challenge. At least it might stir a bit of life back into the labour party.

Skin, there is plenty of life left in the labour party, as I'm sure you will see over the coming years. Eamonn will bring fresh life, ideas and thoughts to the leadership and the reinvigoration of the party.

I admire your optimism, but I could easily say there is no life left in the labout party and that Gilmore will not bring fresh life, ideas and thoughts...etc..etc. All a matter of opinion.

The only thing is, backing up my view, is the point about no-one challenging for leadership when on the face of it all that is on offer is more of the same.
