    Where are the LAB backbenchers?

Now that pressure from FG rural backbenchers has resulted in a climbdown by Hogan on the €50 septic tank chargeis it time for backbench LAB tds to come out publicly against the nonsensical €100 household charge? If a waiver,at least is not introduced LAB will shed many of the seats won at the last local election and many of the newly elected tds will be one term wonders.5cent on the pint or a 2 or 3% increase on the betting tax would raise the paltry sum the government hope to raise from this unjust, ill thought out tax.Can anyone in the party see the damage this crazy tax will do to the party? It is not too late, look at all the u turns we have had already one more will hardly make much difference. If it is not scrapped then exempt low paid workers, welfare recipients, pensioners only on a state pension and all those on disability etc.If LAB do not do something about this the party will pay a very high price and make it impossible for new young candidates to make the breakthrough.SF the ULA, a whole plethora of independents and even the discredited FF will benefit from this cathastrophic mistake.Lets hope the backbenchers act before we get an election result like we got in 1997 and our hardfought gains are thrown away. Can you imagine, a temporary measure bringing in a small amount of money in the overall scheme of things is going to do the damage,if not amended or scrapped.Party members must act now.

Well Joe, you and I know they will do as they are told, just like the ff/fg backbenchers. That is how people see them now. They will try to hang in there come what may.

There's a breathless stream of conciousness in that OP that I can't follow. There also appears to be a lot of innacuracies in there and confusion about where the Dail is. What are these mysterious gains from 1997?

They're hiding under their desks in Dáil Eireann filling out as many expenses forms that they can get their hands on before they are out on their ears in 2016.

Labour for a so called left of centre party have done a complete turnaround, and they in there wisdom now have become more right wing than there buddies in government. They will be destroyed come the next election, any hint of a good story and the Labour ministers and backbenchers are tripping over themselves to get seen or heard in the media. But in the round they have started to go AWOL a bit like the Greens but at least they did it in the last year of government,Labour have pulled that trick in the first year!

i will enjoy their demise, they are basically SIPTU in disguise and everyone knows unions are just for lazy useless people who cant survive in the real world. i enjoy calling labour people scumbags as i do anyone in a union. I have never employed anyone who has being a member of a union as they are simply just all ego and very little effort.
