Fergus Finlay announced this earlier in the year, I remember hearing him say this in a radio interview as I was driving down to the party conference in March.
Personally I'd love to see him as our candidate.

I think Michael D Higgins would be closer to the membership of the Labour Party. He'd be my preferred candidate anyway. Finlay should consider a run for the Dáil though.

I knew he was interested...but he has written to the party seeking their nomination.

Does Michael D want it too though??

I think Fergus is more likeyl to win, and would make a better president. But if the party choses Higgins I'll campaign for him.

I suspect he wouldn't be. Hence my reluctance.

I wonder would mary leave a few dresses for him, would they look well on him,
Oh I think they might suit david norris better, now there is a good idea cut down on all that expense, Elect David Norris, Mary leaves her wardrobe behind and david will be on his own so the cost is halved already.

Michael D is passed it! We'll be back to the presidential retirement home tradition if he wins, maybe that's not a bad thing.
