Rabbitte evokes 'distrust' in focus groups

I think that the FG/LP alliance may have peaked too early, they will struggle to fend off a Bertie surge following the Ard Fheis....and frankly watching him tonight - is'nt it so obvious he is in different league to Enda?

I have been reliably informed by someone who works in the murky world of focus group polling, that Rabbitte is not going down as well he thinks he is...He is admired as being 'clever' and 'articulate' but a good few plump for the rather less positive worfd 'loquacious' to describe him.....emmmm... Also even more worrying for Labour may be the fact that he seems to be distrusted as being primarily driven by personal ambition.

Rather surprisingly perhaps Pat R has also started picking up a fair bit of negative reactions from normally pro-Labour heads in the focus groups. These groups were commissioned by one of the two major political parties and met early last week...

Great. A story with no source of any kind.

If I started a thread for every time that some guy told me something, I'd be clogging up the boards

well if a focus group said it, it must be true.....

You know what other triumps of intellect focus groups have given us?

    I rest my case.

Its clear from what I said that this information was confidential, and as such it is not in my gift to reveal the source . I can say with confidence however that the source is impeccable, and I am satisfied that it is bona fide . By the way 'analyser' not all correct or useful information is necessarily going to be publicly attributable, as many articles in the press which refer to 'reliable sources' proves. People can take it or leave it, if its so incredibly wide of the mark it will be discounted.....but I think that would be an error.

That fact that you've posted this exact message on four different threads is a little puzzling.

For something so confidential you're awfully eager to publicise it.

Yes I am eager to publicise it, I find the report intriguing. I think others should be allowed to consider it also....Whats your problem? You may not like the finding but is'nt it better to be informed of this perception of Pat than to remain blissfully unaware of it??

To be frank, I'm not that fussed about Rabbitte - not a Labour man - so it's not the finding that bothers me.

It's the fact that you're publicising it so... intensely.. that makes me wonder what your angle/agenda is, and thus doubt the veracity of your information.

Rather like how when a complete stranger starts screaming things at you, you instinctively think they're slightly crazy and probably talking bol**ks.

    I'm a loudmouth. That's my excuse.

But neither I, nor most other posters, are so highly-motivated to get their information out that they'll start a conversation on the topic in 4 different threads.

That kind of behaviour is normally reserved for people with an axe to grind, or the 'I know who shot JFK' type of news... not the (hardly novel) revelation that a few voters find Pat Rabbittee a little shifty, or indeed loquacious.
