Dick Spring's nephew Arthur to run for Labour in Kerry North – West Limerick

Labour are holding a selection convention this Monday to choose a candidate for the Kerry North – West Limerick constituency, Arthur Spring is the only nominee, so he'll be automatically selected to run.

Many P.ie regulars will recall discussion about Arthur Spring's potential candidacy for Labour in Munster back in 2008 (which of course Alan Kelly secured and then got elected).

It's also being promoted by Labour that Dick Spring, Arthur's uncle, will be his Director of Elections. Dick Spring lost his Kerry North seat in 2002.

Labour will hold a Selection Convention to select a General Election
candidate for the constituency of Kerry North – West Limerick:

    8pm, Monday, 22nd March 2010

    Grand Hotel,
    Tralee, Co. Kerry

The meeting will be chaired by Deputy Joan Burton, Deputy Leader of the
Labour Party & Spokesperson on Agriculture.

Cllr. Arthur Spring was the only nominee at the close of nominations, and
has announced that Dick Spring, former Leader of the Labour Party will be
acting as his Director of Elections for the campaign.

hope he unseats beardy Ferris, he of the maritime experience
You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.

Has he dropped the 'J'? Thought 'Arthur J. Spring' was a bit much for North Kerry myself...

The Springs another Political Dynasty, that's what we need in this country. Hopefully Ferris will hang in there just to annoy the Springs. I can recall Dick Spring opening a monument and giving a stirring speech for that great patriot Roger Casement, while on the same day Martin Ferris was been handed down a massive sentence for the same 'crime' of importing arms. Hypocrisy???

Crony politics at its best. Mary Coughlan and the 2 Brians may have a new drinking buddy it seems.

Now we have a ball-game, Mr Ferris.
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

More realistically we could see North Kerry /West limerick without a Fianna Fail deputy for the first time. Gone from two to one to None. Thats progress ?

Oh please. Is someone really trying to compare Ferris with Casement? They both have been to Banna, I think that's where the comparison stops.

I'd be surprised if North Kerry changes anyway. I'm no fan of Ferris but he has seen off the challenge from the real Spring, I doubt he will be losing sleep over the nephew.
