I hope that Kevin Humphreys does not loose out, he seems to be a decent person and would be an addition to the Dáil. Ivana has to be joking. I hope the local cumann, tell her to go jump.

It is possible that Quinn's people will back Bacik, knowing that she is unlikely to appeal to working class voters in SEIC, and that Quinn will have built up a strong relationship with the labour voters in the wealthier area of the city. The very vote she needs to get elected. This would keep the threat of KH at bay, and allow a hand over to Oisín in a term or two.

How does Labour decide on candidates.

If two candidates are to be put forward, local organisation would select them both. (Rules changed on this when new constitution was adopted.)

Oh that could be bad for Kevin ?

I think he has earned his right to be on the ticket , his only problem is the more affulent areas in DSE

I reckon Ruari has had a good innings, including being Party Leader and Minister for Finance, and should now step aside.

Yip. The Executive has the right to perscribe a gender balance i.e. they can tell DSE to select 2 candidates but it has to be one male and one female. That means Bacik is selected by default without a vote and there is only one slot between Quinn and Humpreys.

Humpreys is about to get shafted methinks.

I think she has potential, however if she is to make the breakthrough to being a TD she needs to start showing some originality of ideads instead of playing it safe and speaking directly from the 'Liberal Book of Aproved Though' as she has been doing since she ran for the Student's Union in TCD 20 years ago.

I assume Ruiri is just keeping the seat warm for his son Oisin who was elected to the council in the last locals.

Is Oisin not his nephew - I am not sure but thought he was .

Either way you could be right in regards the seat been minded for him.

Well that def means Kevin is out of the running , he is a hard worker for Labour and in fairness to him he has done thinks for people regardless of their political alligence .He would be an excellent TD.

He has, but if it means he would be replaced by Ivana Bacik, then no, he should stay.
