How can Labour make the most of 2010?

How can Labour make the most of 2010?

    1) Recruit massively amongst low grades of public sector.
    2) Encourage people to join trade unions in private sector (the unions are too public sector orientated).
    3) Have more of solo runs like Sean Sherlock on days of actions ie common sense not retoric etc
    4) Continue as much small fundraising as possible with obama style - internet, community groups.
    5) Develop as much presence in local areas.
    6) Get its spokespersons to dump the Irish Times in favour of the Star and The Sunday World (multiples of the readerships).
    7) Keep hammering the Government on the bank bailout (sorry NAMA - which Enda Kenny was not present to vote against) and Bank Guarantee scheme for Anglo and Irish Nationawide (which FG supported) and link it to the impending cuts in the Budget (higher interest payments).
    8) Run 83 candidates (ie it is serious about being lead party in Government)
    9) Educate voters on voting negatively, abff and absf.
    10) Try and poach Cllrs, Senators and TDs who are in FF are on the left of the party, has a brain and has no allegations of/association with corruption against them.
    11) On a flippant level, what would Eamon Gilmore look like without the glasses and could Joan Burton's voice be softened?

Have an informal pact with all the other parties of the left to maximise the left vote. Refuse to work with either FG or FF.

Absolutely not. An alliance with SF would be suicide for Labour at the polls

The PS trade union leadership were not happy with what he said. However from the 5 civiland public servants I spoke to only one of them wants to strike/protest, the rest just want to get on with it.

The lack of unions reps in large parts of the private sector should be a major cause of concern for the Labour Party, as should the fact that the FG is the most popular party with the working class (D's).

    12) If general election comes in 2010 , and Labour enter government they could continue borrowing to fund the PS and bankrupt the country

That would benefit SF but would probably also lead to a FG overall majority.
In the last election 41% voted FF, they then got that vote topped up by transfers. Obviously the FF vote will not reach those levels, but Labour would be a chief beneficary of transfers if they can get voters to vote down the ballot against FF.
FG, labour and SF need to do this.

Labour are close to 100 years old and the only notable achievement is the knife they put in John O Donoghues back !
