Former Labour Cllr Resigns from Party in Sligo

    http://www.sligoweekender.com/news/stor ... 5&cat=news

A FORMER Labour member of Sligo County Council has resigned from the party. Brian Scanlon has said that he cannot carry on as a member of the party because Councillor Jimmy McGarry is its candidate in the forthcoming General Election......

“It is no secret that I opposed Cllr Jimmy McGarry’s entry to the party. He is now the election candidate to run in the Sligo/North Leitrim constituency and I still believe this man does not belong in a party who claim to represent the interests of the poor, the underprivileged or the working class. Mr Scanlon claimed that Cllr McGarry’s past public record “shows he let down the very people who look to the Labour Party for support.

Expect Phoenix magazine to go nuts on this story next week - probably claiming that it shows deep-seated opposition to Rabbitte's tax-cut plan, the Mullingar Accord, his electoral strategy, etc etc.....

Oh, and that it proves that 180 miles down the road, Rabbitte's own seat is at risk.
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Is that the same Phoenix magazine owned by the father of a Fianna Fáil TD? Funny how it doesn't mention that itself.
