Can nothing be done about the Indo? They've been making stuff up as far back as I can remember. At one point they got themselves boycotted by the entire city of Derry after they labelled John Hume a "bomber, trying to kill the Unionist people".

    Awful vicious rag altogether.

Why don't the Indo come right out and nail their colours to the mast and say they'll be backing FF in the election istead of all this nonsense about the opposition and the disarray they are in

Total bull************************. I mean, they consider someone reinforcing what they already said (Liz McManus - 'there might be some extraordinary circumstance where Labour will go in with FF' clarifying that extraordinary circumstance means "world war 3") is reported as flip-flopping in three different directions. It's just getting tired now.
Still, I don't think Labour's been on the front page of the Indo so much since Spring & Quinn took down the Reynolds Government!

The O'Reilly rag group might be doin a reverse psychology thing here.
In the same way as they are going after SF by not going after them, it is entirely plausible they are trying to galvanise the Labour party into ensuring a coalition with FF is unthinkable.
Those who think they know it all upset those of us that do.........

Is that a good thing? Is it an agenda of the Independent to get Labour and FF into bed together?

I think it's an agenda to make Labour look disorganised and fragile, despite the blatant fact that it's not.
The Indo know that a very significant portion of floating voters move between FF and Labour, and that that group often makes the difference. I think they're trying to get those people over to FF. Sir Anthony has decreed; therefore it is so.

I always thought the Indo was a pro-FG paper? Or am I showing me age?
Voters don't decide issues, they decide who will decide issues.

Indo has been Pro-FF since 1997 anyway. I wasn't politically aware enough before that to tell!

The Independent is an establishment paper. It is quite a well kept secret, but in Ireland Fianna Fail are the establishment.

Quite amusingly it took the Independent about 70 years to figure this out.
