Senator Ned O'Sullivan closes his Menswear shop in Listowel

I am tempted to ask where are the men of Kerry going to get their Charvet shirts now? Oh the humanity of it all!!

Anyway, I hear Ned is closing his shop on the Square. Yet another longstanding business in Listowel is gone. Three other shops in Listowel, a small market town for the uninitiated, have closed their doors since Christmas.

Austerity, savaging of wages private and public, extra stealth charges, people with a few bob holding on to it for dear life..if this paying our own way keeps up we'll have no domestic business left.
Never listen when they tell you that Man and the animals have a common interest, that the prosperity of the one is the prosperity of the others. It is all lies.

Or maybe it is a just that people don't buy their clothes from small town shops anymore.

Nope, people are not buying anything from anyone anymore, they are just too scared to.
I am self-employed and have worked 6 days since January and I am not the only one.
Look around you, businesses in every town are being hit, so income tax and vat income must also be way down.
    More trouble ahead I fear.

This is only the tip of the iceberg,as events in Greece move towards a total default, the domino effect will unfold as Portugal,Ireland and Spain go into free fall as the contagion spreads.

That was a timing issue. January's Income Tax returns reflect wages paid in December. So last January's figures did not include the USC and the 10% cut in the Personal Alowances and Standard Rate Band, whereas this January does.

The irish establishment are terrified of this as their gold plated sense of entitlement will coming crashing down, look at the greeks they couldn't care less, their own politicans are walking, the greeks are going to walk from the euro and give their creditors the two fingers. It might be tough for a while, but they ain't entering a decade or more of debt servitude.
