Atheists Ireland plan to commit a blasphemous outrage this Saturday: Morning Ireland

On Morning Ireland this morning a spokesperson for Atheists Ireland stated that they intend to test the recently enacted blasphemy law by the committing of a blasphemous outrage next Saturday in Dublin. They are having their AGM in Wynne's Hotel (IIRC) to agree a plan of campaign and implement it. They are in effect intending to test the constitutionality of the legislation by committing an offence. Considering their is a maximum fine of €25k under the Act then it certainly would be the cheapest form of challenging the law.

The intention I think is to ratchet up the blasphemous outrage until the Gardai arrest and charge them under the Act. Although the spokesperson reckoned that it was unclear under the Act if they could be arrested for an offence under the Act.

So get your 'blasphemous outrage' suggestions in now!!

I will get the ball rolling with a few suggestions:

"The Prophet Mohammed was a padeophile"
"The Prophet Mohammed was a kiddy fiddler"
"The Ayatollah Khomeini loved it doggy style"
"The Ayatollah Khomeini took it up the ass"

Has anyone clarified what qualifies as a deity or religion as regards this law?
Is Islam covered? What about non-monotheistic faiths?
What if I tell my Jedi pal that I think Darth Vader is great?

Is it blasphemous to say that one religion is better than another? If I say that, clearly, Bah'ai sucks ass in comparison to Zoroastrianism, am I not blaspheming the Bah'ais?

The 'Virgin' Mary was a adulterous slut and Joseph was the most gullible gobsh!te in history.
Also, this makes Jesus a bastard.

They were on Newstalk too. As the law doesn't define what constitutes a religion, it seems they may be establishing a Church of Dermotology - a faith that worships the current Minister for Justice.

No one has gone for the open goal that is christianity. Its not above me though....

Jesus was either a charismatic crazy or a charlitan but almost certainly not a god.

    This is fun.

The Holy Spirit committed statutory rape when he/it impregnated the 12 year old Mary.

If God consists of the Father, the son and the Holy Ghost does that mean Jesus knocked up his own mother?

I intend to start getting a nice collection of "blasphemous" movies and literature and bring them to the Gardai's attention. It will be a great use of public money for two sergeants in Pearse St to figure out if "The Life of Brian" and Robert Mapplethorpe art books should be banned.
