Do AI realise that even their own statement, even if it is sufficient to breach the legislation (outrage etc...), is likely to attract one of the defences (ie. political motive) as it is clearly a politically motivated "blasphemous libel". If there is no chance of them being prosecuted for it, they run a real risk of merely appearing bitter and silly. That will not help their cause going forward.

Yes there is but it can only used as a defence once a charge is brought. The onus is on the defendant to prove the defence is valid in their case.

That is, a complaint is made, if it is considered blasphemy a charge is brought and then a defence is made by council for those charged. Should this defence not be offered....
