Judges pay distraction - media tows the FF line

Is it just me or are the media completely kow towing to FF on the judges pay issue, making it a big story when it's a side issue, distracting attention from the core problem of out of control public spending and pandering to the real people in charge...the reckless unions who are condemning their children to emigrate.

And then we have Minister Ryan threatening the independence of the judiciary with a referendum.

this is a total distraction issue playing right into the government's hands? no?

I'd be interested in peoples' opinion on this, I couldn't believe it was top of the news.

I believe Joe Higgins in on Q&A tonight, should be a good barney.

Just to be clear, I've no time for the legal profession which is set up like a racket. and judges pay is outrageous, that's not the point though.

A referendum on judge's pay but no referendum on children's rights. You couldn't make it up, even if you were Ahern's daughter's ghost writers.

The story has government fingerprints all over it.

Distraction Tactic #187 - Fuel resentment and get it aimed at someone else, ideally someone who cannot answer back. If it happens to be someone who actually was crazy enough to take a pay cut to do the job in the first place bob's your uncle. Then they get to be resentful too. And can do feck all about it.

FF would be better off reforming the judicial system. Open courts at 9 am. Make em sit all day. Make the judges work for their money.

They should sit all year long. None of this closing down the courts rubbish. Reform the entire system.

It's priceless for the govt to say that they can't cut Judges pay because constitutionally, the govt can't interfere or pressurise Judges, only for the Taoiseach to come out and say that Judges should make a contribution in lieu of the pension levy.

    Breathtaking "doublethink".

As ever, a "slightly constitutional party......."
