Jd Salinger Sues Over His Intellectual Property Rights to 'Catcher'

Fair Play to the man : J. D. Salinger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He is suing JD California for "Sixty Years Later, Coming through the Rye", Published by Nicotext.

Strangely enough Nicotext are not available for comment at the moment, sure cogging is nothing new and generally
comes under the iffy nomenclature of Plagiarising or Theft - or "HOW how fcking dare they" :

The grumpy sixteen year old in me is horrified that he would sink to this level, but I suppose he would have to nip this sort of thing in the bud, considering his very peculiar relationship with the public, and the decades of speculation regarding the body of work he supposedly has stashed away in his shed.

I was so terribly fond of Catcher... as a lad. I considered Salinger's detachment from the literary world, for what I presumed were primarily spiritual reasons, to be unspeakably cool. Bit of a cliche at this stage I suppose. Cool people don't sue, full stop, but luckily enough, my outlook has changed a little since my youth so I'm willing to forgive him.

I always think of that bit in Annie Hall when I think of this,
"Sylvia Plath - interesting poetess whose tragic suicide was misinterpreted as romantic by the college girl mentality."

    Funny.

Which reminds me, must reread those Glass Family stories this summer...

on a side note Saunter, it was 1998 before 'Ariel' was restored to it's original and intended music, lots of discussion by Hughes on his alterations in 'Winter Pollen' published by Faber.
