    Better?
If you look through the blasphemy thread, only a couple of people made big misconceptions about the law. I'm not just arguing semantics here, you're acting like it was prevalent when it was a small minority. I know it was said in the newspapers and blogs, but even there it was a minority of sensationalist pieces.

Are we learning nothing from the past?

Has Fianna Fail learned absolutely nothing from the past. Today's report on abuse within Church-run institutions shows exactly what can go wrong when you start placing any group on a pedestal and protecting them from public inquiry and debate.

This proposed law is just yet more of the same, it's going to stifle debate on religion and religious issues.

It doesn't need amendment it needs to be scrapped and scrapped a.s.a.p.

In fairness Demo, there were quite a few who vastly overexagerated the effect of this proposed aw and I solely took exception to their posts. If my criticism was inaccurately aimed at all areligous, I apologise.

We must never shrink from controversy, the right to offend is fundamental in a free society and for free debate and politics.

Perhaps but shame so few exercise the even more important responsibility not to do so.
