Baby son goes into jail with cigarette smuggler

A Mongolian woman who was caught three times trying to smuggle cigarettes into the State has brought her baby son to prison with her while she serves a six month sentence.

Tugsuu Myagmar (aged 30) was driven to Mountjoy Jail by her husband by permission of Judge Katherine Delahunt because the prison van did not have a baby seat.

This is an absolute disgrace. How can taking your child to the Joy for 6 months be right in any way for the state or this child?

Don't do the crime, don't do the time.

Sadly getting Pregnant while on remand is a tactic used to ensure court gives you a lenient sentence.

The lady may have requested that her child accompany her in jail. Perhaps she is breastfeeding the baby. I understand it is accepted practise to allow babies stay with mothers in prison for a while after their birth if the birth happens while the mother is in prison.
So presumably Mountjoy has the facilities for this.

Babies care more about being with their mothers than where they are and as far as I'm aware this is normal practice throughout the world, especially if a mother is breast-feeding.

What the hell is she doing here anyway?

This woman should be Deported back to her own Country once she has served her sentence.

Jail for cigarette smuggling seems a bit OTT.

I presume it was on an industrial scale.

Baby probably won't notice either way, no more than any non-Mogolian babys notice their time in Mountjoy.

Catalpa, her husband or indeed herself could be highly qualified people who got work permits to work in a certain field. We may not have enough of qualified people in that field for our needs you see.
Having arrived, they discovered that there is no work in that field and the sponsor let them down. So Mrs. Mongolia is wealthy enough to trek back and forth buying fags for herself and her family, cigs are far too expensive here.
Mrs Mongolia has not resumed her studies, the report says, so maybe I will change my mind and presume they came on the ubiquitous "study" visas instead of a work visa.
Yes, I agree, they should be returned to their home country if they break the law here.

I think perhaps he may be missing two important items required for the well being of the child.
