In reality, I'd give you about an hour before you were moved on under the anti-loitering laws. And twould be the Gardai who would enforce that, probably on foot of complaint.
Loitering is such a non-sensical crime. I understand why it's there, but it just so hard to justify "standing around one place for a while" a crime.

I don't think it's useful either. It just creates distrust, most of the groups of kids that would be moved off because of it would have had perfectly innocent intentions.

The US has had the first amendment for ages now, and it hasn't become awash with foetus posters.

Alterego, how do you explain how the Muslim world lost the lead it had over the Christian world in terms of science, philosophy, economy and technology?

Why did Europe come from so far behind and then so completely overtake the Muslim world on all of these scores?

(And hint; the answer is not Western Imperialism. The West had to overtake the Muslim world before it could dominate it.)

Uh-oh, I've got to stop you from making a wrong turn. I used to make that argument, and while it can stand as a hypothesis, there are far too many other factors for you to make the claim I think you wish to make...

Don't worry I'm not about to go down the road you suspect I am. The Enlightenment is not the answer.

Happy? No. But then, law in itself isn't designed to make people happy. One can find something aesthetically displeasing and still accept the others right to be un-aesthetic.

A loaded question. All and any. How about pornographic pictures? No, they are illegal to display where minors may see them, and in public places.

There are many images publicly displayed that I, personally, find "offensive", I simply exercise my right to not look at them. If a person "pushes one of these images in my face", that act is harassment. Already legislated for.
