Hang on, you're contradicting yourself.(*) Islamic scholars aren't the source - the Koran is. Islamic scholars explain and editorialise on that source.

But you've already said that people don't need these critiques and explanations - they should go straight to the source.

Allah glorified in His book the importance of the scholars of the religion because they bear in their chests the book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (Salla Allahu Alaihi Wa Sallam). They explain the religion to the people. This was the position of the Sahabah and Allah praised them with regards their position. Allah says which translates as:

“Muhammad is the messenger of Allah and those who are with him are severe against the disbelievers and merciful amongst themselves. You see them bowing and falling down prostrate in prayer"(Al-Fath: 29).

He also praised them in another verse saying which translates as:

“And the first to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun those who migrated from Makkah to Madinah and the Ansar, the residents of Madinah, and those who followed them exactly in faith…"(At-Tauba: 100).

No trickery on my part whatsoever. But a very good example of why non-Muslims simply are not qualified to speak about Islam.

2b. You're just not sophisticated enough to understand the real import of the material. Go to 3.
3. You read some more and find it equally nonsensical and/or incomprehensible. Go to 4
4. Go to 2a or b (depending on your critic's humour).
B) If exhausted, give up. If you've completed the opus and have now changed your mind, congratulations, you've now reached enlightenment. If you haven't changed your mind you're obviously too thick, infantile or prejudiced to have any opinion on this subject.

ain't that the truth. the argument you present is somehow turned around to 'prove' the point you were arguing against. repeat the process till the point is completely lost and all sane people give up. bit like the methods used to spread religion funnily enough.
