So you think over-rated books should be banned?

Alterego, just to remind you, it's not Bizarro-World.

and yet l love sufism but never have time to read the poems, nothing in there bout murdering girls. cultural exchange cannot happen when thick ministers create an atmosphere of loathing through lobby pressure.

I hope this controversy will be a wakeup call for those on the Left who believe in the multiculturalist perspective that we must compromise our freedoms to fit in with minority-cultures that disagree with some of them.

l totally blame ahern in this. no doubt in my mind that his intepretation of the issues is reactionary, ill-informed, expedient and blairite . essentially he is ff and acultural.

Alty, you've really got to keep your arguments straight, and not contradict yourself within half an hour. Buy a notepad or something.

(*) Cute the way you tried to slip that in between brackets, as if we wouldn't notice. You old devil you.
Allah glorified in His book the importance of the scholars of the religion because they bear in their chests the book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (Salla Allahu Alaihi Wa Sallam). They explain the religion to the people. This was the position of the Sahabah and Allah praised them with regards their position. Allah says which translates as:
“Muhammad is the messenger of Allah and those who are with him are severe against the disbelievers and merciful amongst themselves. You see them bowing and falling down prostrate in prayer"(Al-Fath: 29).
He also praised them in another verse saying which translates as:
“And the first to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun those who migrated from Makkah to Madinah and the Ansar, the residents of Madinah, and those who followed them exactly in faith…"(At-Tauba: 100).
No trickery on my part whatsoever. But a very good example of why non-Muslims simply are not qualified to speak about Islam.

    It goes as follows:

    A) Repeat until exhausted or opus completely read and understood and then go to B:
    1. You read some nonsense and tell somebody it's nonsense. Go to 2a and/or 2b.
2a. You're told you're an ignoramus. How could you understand, you haven't read the whole opus and don't know what you're talking about. Go to 3
2b. You're just not sophisticated enough to understand the real import of the material. Go to 3.
    3. You read some more and find it equally nonsensical and/or incomprehensible. Go to 4
    4. Go to 2a or b (depending on your critic's humour).
    B) If exhausted, give up. If you've completed the opus and have now changed your mind, congratulations, you've now reached enlightenment. If you haven't changed your mind you're obviously too thick, infantile or prejudiced to have any opinion on this subject.

Your conversation partner can never lose.
ain't that the truth. the argument you present is somehow turned around to 'prove' the point you were arguing against. repeat the process till the point is completely lost and all sane people give up. bit like the methods used to spread religion funnily enough.
