Government grants haulage licence to convicted drug smuggler

"We have very strict guidelines when it comes to issuing haulage licences in this country. The application contains a section entitled ‘Good Repute’ and requires detailed information and affidavits about matters such as criminal records.

“Despite these strict criteria, the Department of Transport issued a licence to Mr. Boylan. This is particularly worrying in the context of an ongoing GSOC investigation into drug charges against Mr Boylan being dropped without obvious reason after he was caught red-handed with €1.8m of heroin and cocaine in 2005."

What is going on when a convicted drug smuggler is being granted a haulage licences?

    Something stinks.

    cock up or conspiracy?
If the banks are out for a bail,
and Lenny's efforts end up as a fail,
    when the Somer does come,
    to the Country they'll run,
And leave a Fine mess for the Gael.

Endinf the one Party (FF) state:

Yes indeed there is. In the interest of ensuring that the posts on this very serious matter are not fragmented this post should be moved.
