You're quite right. Drag these shadowy figures into the light of day! They've wasted a lot of Irish workers' money, they should be accountable.

No one said she's a witch, she's just an illegal alien and a fraud.
Get her out of here.

It looks as if both RTE and Philip Boucher Hayes have a lot of questions to answer. According to the Tribune the Gardai and the Dept of Justice officials who met the Doctor are adamant that it is not the same person on the taped interviews with RTE. Plus the article says that Boucher Hayes was given the number to call rather than having tracked it down himself indeopendently. Loads of questions to be answered here.

According to the report, her doctor is now admitting that the story was invented and the child did not exist. If this is indeed true (and why would the doctor lie), then once and for all it demonstrates the ludicrity of the way in which the Leinster House liberals have been flocking to her cause like ducks to water in the name of a pack of lies. That someone would invent such a lie, being as the subject-matter is so traumatic and distressing, aswell as harming the cause of those who are genuinely threatened and victimised by FGM, is in itself an affront to the morality of all right-thinking people. And if true, it strengthens further the necessity for this woman to be deported. She has had her claims assessed by the authorities and the politicians have now had themselves made fools of by the revelations in today's Irish Mirror. Shame.

The Irish Independent security correspondant is on Newstalk elaborating on this now.
According to today's Sunday Times, the documents she submitted to the courts were forgeries, forged without her knowledge by her husband who claimed the doctor refused to produce the legitimate documents without a bribe.

Curiously when the Sunday Times approached him he refused to speak to them unless . . . um . . . they paid him €5K!!!

The doctor also claimed to the Mirror that she had no other children but the two living with her in Ireland. In fact, she has a 17 year old son in Nigeria. The doctor also claimed not to have been the man interviewed on RTÉ some time ago. RTÉ insists he was, and say they contacted him through the hospital to do the interview.

The doctor on the one hand said he had not been involved in the case, then later said he regretted being involved all through the case!!! Was he involved or not?

Something is very fishy.

Whatever the truth about her story, the doctor seems to be someone who is not a reliable witness. Refusing an interview with a newspaper unless they paid him €5K is very very suspicious and does appear to support her husband's claim that legitimate documentation could not be provided as bribes had been demanded that the family could not pay.

The whole thing is very very strange.

“Nobody has interviewed me. I never gave an interview to a radio or television organisation in Dublin, Ireland, or outside Nigeria,” Unokanjo said. He refused to answer any further questions unless a fee of €5,000 was paid."

RTE went big on this interview by Philip Boucher-Hayes on Friday in a last ditch appeal to sway public opinion and the courts. They played the interview with the "doctor" who "confirmed" her story as true on Gerry Ryan and the drivetime programme. Delighted to see the cultural marxist state broadcaster get their hands burned badly on this one. Delighted for Amnesty International as well, formerly an excellent, worthy organisation, now destroyed by a leftist ideology.
I think this individual should now resign from a publicly funded job as he wittingly or unwittingly allowed himself to be used in a conspiracy to defraud the State.

IIRC a senior British newspaper Editor had to resign a couple of years ago from one of the tabloids after being suckered in on a bogus story on prisoner abuse in Iraq?

If he had to go in a private newpaper then why not a journalist here from a State owned Institution?

from the article kerrynorth posted above
RTÉ was 'duped' by bogus asylum film

The first interview, conducted by RTÉ reporter Philip Boucher-Hayes, was broadcast in 2005 and repeated on RTÉ radio last week.
The second interview, with Sligo-based radio station Ocean FM, took place in January 2007.

But the government officials and garda who met Unokanjo at his workplace have listened back to the RTÉ telephone interview with the doctor and are adamant it is not the same person.

"The real Dr Unokanjo is willing to come over to Ireland and testify to this. Can RTÉ get their doctor over to defend himself?" said the source.
RTE were sucked in, a lot of people were. Philip Boucher-Hayes has obviously been setup and in light of that should consider a career that doesn't involve basic fact checking.

I seem to remember Ms Izb on Marian Finucane this morning saying that she "had to be careful" and when pressed on this by MF she said this was because she no longer had legal support.

Hmmm rats deserting a sinking ship or what?

No matter what, this lady will push and push, and will probably claim that the forged documents were necessary because the legitimate documents could not be procured without a bribe. She was able to afford to come all the way here, so why did she not pay for the documents instead of the shenanigans of her husband procuring false ones, which must have cost something to a forger anyway!

This stinks to high heaven, and I wonder will Pamela now claim that to return to Nigeria is dangerous for her, not because of FGM on her daughters, but because she will be arrested by the Nigerian authorities for forgery. Wait and see, that will be the next defence.

The timeline is wrong - the first interview with Boucher-Hayes was in 2005 so this scam has been going on since then. The logical question is: who gave Boucher-Hayes the number?

The brush-off was a scam classic though and one that most investigative journalists have would have come across. Did Boucher-Hayes ever watch "The Sting"?

"RTÉ recently filmed a Would You Believe special on Izevbekhai, scheduled for next Sunday."

The answer is "No". Any prizes for guessing if they will show it?

Seriously, none of this surprises me. Every interview with this woman in the media, especially RTE, was conducted in a sycophantic way with many expressions of sympathy for her supposed plight, and reporting as fact everything she alleged, with a blatant refusal to question anything she said.

No doubt the Would You Believe "documentary" is more of the same, although it will probably never see the light of day now.

Someone posted contact details for Boucher-Hayes. Could they repost that info, please.

I want to write to that fool and give him a piece of my mind. He's symptomatic of all that is cossetted and lousy in RTE.

As regards the woman in the evening, Mary somethingorother, she's just a twit. Her "interviews" with Pam and the pamettes were farcically incompetent.
