If such a high profile case has been dragged on so far and "investigated" what about all the other cases before this. Is there any way previous cases can be looked into.
How much does each approved asylum seeker cost ? Remember the world is full of people that deserve to be looked after.
We have been so easily duped in the past but by how much.

As an adopted son of Donegal, forgive me if I don't follow your example.

The Irish Independent security correspondant was just on Newstalk now stating that the Gardai have investigated her story in Nigeria and have found it to be untrue.

They should be allowed to claim asylum in the first safe country, which is unlikely to be Ireland.

I wonder how Veronica Cawley must feel now reading this story. She and the Labour party and those in FG who supported her case now have egg all over their faces. This is where gullibility gets you.
We rarely agree, FT, but we agree on this. Our government does not respect the Dublin Convention which requires all asylum-seekers apply for asylum in the first signatory state in which they land. As you correctly state, this is unlikely to be Ireland. Yet we have a siutuation where a great many asylum seekers claim asylum in Ireland having arrived in a different signatory state beforehand.

If our government does not enforce the law, it sends out a coded message to all and sundry that Ireland is a soft touch because it doesn't even enforce its own laws. This encourages all manner of scammers, chancers and criminals to try it on here making the entire process more difficult for genuine applicants and creating the conditions for the native population to label ALL claimants as scammers.

Apart from generating a reputation for incompetence in applying its own asylum laws, it fosters an impression that genuine asylum-seekers cannot rely on Ireland as a safe haven because the government is so inept that is has allowed chaos to reign in the asylum process, at the heart of which is an inability to enforce the law.

By all means don't, understandable in your location

Although I'd rely on this: Deportation case mother had fake baby death papers, inquiry told - Courts, National News - Independent.ie

over this : Pamela Izevbekhai, subsidiary protection, sligo, family, Nigeria, judge, ireland, dublin, help

    any day.

Whatever the truth may be, I gotta say that the children involved have my sympathy. I hope for their sake that they haven't gone through this whole drama on the back of a pack of lies.
