Antonia Leslie is a member of the family owning Castle Leslie. A documentary was made about her eccentric father (now dead) and the family. She had an unusual childhood, a bit of a wild child, did drugs etc I think, but now rehabilitated and doing the odd feature for the Sindo - in fact the pillar of the community!

Government refuses to offer Pamela Izevbekhai deal - Times Online

The last few paragraphs are interesting........

If she succeeds in securing political asylum on the grounds that her daughters might he subjected to FGM if they were returned to Nigeria, it would result in hundreds of similar applications being lodged across Europe, according to immigration sources.

The Department of Justice has received at least two further applications from African women who claim they fled to Ireland in order to save their daughters from FGM.

The state denied both applications for asylum but sources believe the women involved may yet launch legal challenges against their deportations, depending on the outcome of the Izevbekhai case

The article also mentions 100's of cases for asylum being lodged on the same grounds all over Europe. The government probably has no choice but to deport her now. RTE are running a "Would you believe" story tonight on RTE featuring Ms. Izevbehkai. Somewhat poor timing I would have thought.

Well glad to hear she's not on drugs.

Though its an unfortunate fact that taking drugs in the past can have lasting harmful effects on ones ability to distinguish reality from the workings of one imagination...

You suppoort the deportation of two childfren to a place that is proven to be a dangerous one for female children. What does it take to be capable of such a thought, let alone such an action?

I still believe that Antonia Leslie needs to be censured by the Indo and/or sacked. A complete disgrace.

Wherever did you get that idea from? What bit of the FGM story do you regard as 'cock and bull'?
