As was said elsewhere one sector of the community should not be sniping at the better fortune of another sector.

The government are smiling when they see this happening.

    We have to act intelligently.

The point here is that the government are hitting the paye sector to claw back what they have allowed the elite within their golden circles to do to this country.

And having allowed them to do what they did they now expect the state and the paye workers to pay it back while the fat cats get off, not likely.

    WE DIDNT CAUSE THIS MESS
THE PRIVATE SECTOR CREAMED IT DURING THE BOOM

That is a very correct statement and a rational assessment of what happened.
But do not forget that all of us in the private sector did not "cream it" during the boom, only those within the circles.

The private sector did not cream anything, possibly the large business people, but not the ordinary people in the private sector or the small business owners

I totally disagree with this march as 10% of the pension is only subject to the levy, and I do have a family member in the force! 90% contribution remains untouched!

But I think the point here is that the Gardai are being asked to pay for the misdeeds of the rich while the said rich get richer at their expense and the expense of the country.

My grandfather's brother in laws brother in law, I think, used to say that the government cut the Garda's pay in the 30's and they did not get any recognition again until macushla and the Conry commission.

perhaps they do not want to revisit those times.

I think the point is that Gardai are being asked to pay a bit towards their own pensions!!

Members of the Garda Representative Association executive already held a protest at the Dail on Wednesday 18th February when a letter was handed to An Taoiseach.

Coupled with the actions of the Army is this an indication of the civil unrest that is rocking out corrupt country where the sufferers are the rank and file Civil Servants the PAYE workers the elderly and the sick while those within the circle are protected by inaction on the part of the Government.

I think it is fair comment to conclude that when a Nations Army and Police feel the necessity to protest against the Government of the country and actually go out and do it that the sitting government have failed to hold the confidence of its citizens and have failed its Nation.

The government may well have failed. However i have no sympathy for the gardai. They are a law unto themselves. Never has a job become so cushie, as been a member of an siochana. They pick and choose who they decide to prosecute, are untouchable when it comes to motoring offences, and still in this day and age have an aweful attittude when dealing with people. They spend more time in the various food joints around the city than chief Wiggum from the simpsons. Their badge gets them free access to clubs and pubs, free transport on bus and rail, theyre treated like royalty around the place through either sucking up, or fear. Dont get me started on the pensions and benefits they receive. They should take to the streets alright!!!! Do a bit of work for a change.
