    Mass resignations from Equality Authority.

RTE just reported 5 board members have submitted their resignations to Dermot Ahern in protest at the 47% cut which meant no new cases can be taken by the authority this year. Great news for exploitative employers across the land.

It is a good stand and their cuts seem very savage considering others in that department did not have a similar fate.

We all know this recession means we have to reign in government spending, but we are also quite clear that cuts in public services or staffing will not be tolerated. It's an anomoly.

This cut was NOTHING to do woth saving money. It was punishment for something the minister didn't like.

Boo hoo. The Minister runs the show, he decides where the money goes. If people don't like it, they can vote out his party next time round. Personally I'd rather this money went on front line services than on a bunch of superannuated sociology students who think it a worthwhile use of public funds to examine gender roles on the Late Late Toy Show. Fascist that I am.

Well done minister. A quango for the looney left and the pc brigade is the first thing that should go in its entirety.

You have a point in relation to the gender stereotyping toy's issue, however, the big losers will be joe soap who the Authority helps to take cases before the Equality Tribunal. Now that is a worthwhile function, notwithstanding other nonsense issues they may have researched. It is a practical functional area which should have remained un-affected. It is a free service to members of the public. A front line service for the marginalised first to go!!
