"Second-hand smoke from cigarettes is a form of violence against women.

According to tobacco control advocates, Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women Act provides a legal remedy that will force partners to quit smoking.

The judges there must be extremely bored most of the time. Can someone ban cars now on the grounds that their exhaust fumes contain hundreds of times the quantity of dangerous chemicals as cigarette smoke?

Divorce in the Philipinnes is illegal, which is the reason why they created this law as an extension of the modern campaign to assert people's rights on the issue of cigarette smoke. It certainly doesn't make marriage any more desirable. Given this is a strongly Catholic country you might expect they would want to. Then again, given this is a strongly Catholic country there is probably overwhelming social pressure to get married.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of forcing a partner not to spoke, I don't see why women should be allowed to force men to stop but not the other way around.

Isn't it obvious - they just love their husbands so much they don't want them to die prematurely.

They bring gender based thinking to something it has nothing to do with. I think a woman who has a husband that smokes has no business comparing herself to a woman who gets beaten up.

She has far more in common with a man who has a wife that smokes. In fact they are in the exact same position.

    I agree

(But couldn't it also be said to be the case that male victims of domestic violence have an awful lot in common with female victims of domestic violence but somehow a huge distinction is made e.g. in the Phillipines, the "Anti-Violence against Women Act")

The logical consequence of feminism and its ancillaries "violence against women" "UN gender mainstreaming".

Sure that's modeled after the Feminist United States, who introduced the pioneering Violence Against Women Act (under Klinton) in 1994. Duly exported worldwide, no doubt.

Marxists, Feminists and Leftists operate on the basis of "liberating tolerance" - i.e. their ideas should be tolerated, and any opposition should be suppressed.

I have a doubt about that and it comes from my own experience. I was once in a relationship with a woman who tuned out to be violent. The first time it happened it was almost funny but it got worse.

The reason I found it funny is that I was much stronger than her so while I was in pain I didn't feel powerless or humiliated. Of course it got worse and worse and worse so eventually I left.

But I was never frightened in the way I would be faced with a violent man.

I've talked about there being no resistance to absolute tyranny in Ireland but the truth is our last line is the nuclear religion formed family. It will be attacked.
