Murder of innocents: how to respond?

What additional measures are needed now to prevent the killing of another innocent person by gangsters?

In a relatively small country, where we like to think that everyone knows everyone, does it have to be like this ?

I am afraid it has to be like this. If you want to live in a free open just society.
These gangsters were incompetent. And this is not the first time they have botched things up. Truely only the very thickest idiots must enter the drug gangs.

A dedicated unit to take on the gangs, is what the Mayor says is needed.

Internment without trial. The gardaí know who they are. It should have been done years ago.

    That is illegal and unconstitutional.

    What's your point?

They are complete scum...In everything they do and stand for.

They should just be wiped out.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Internment without trial is draconian, and most people would be against such a measure. The gardaí are doing an excellent job putting away the Limerick drugs gangs. There is a serious amount of scum behind bars. The problem created however is that then there is a void created for some other lowlifes to take up the mantle, often these are younger, and more dangerous. The older heads generally have a certain code (albeit they're still scum), but a lot of teenagers/twentysomethings then get promoted to prominent positions, and run amok with serious weaponry, and can be lot more trigger happy and dangerous. Wouldn't surprise me if it was some of these younger thugs, who are more careless, and wreckless who are responsible for the shooting of this innocent man.

It's not unconstitutional, the Irish constitution has a nice loophole that means all the govt need do is declare a state of emergency and they can do whatever they want, except execute people.
