I'm not quite clear on what the rationale behind this "legislation" would be or how you would define it?

Sounds like a recipe for kangaroo court nonsense.
It's simple, just like the laws brought in by Hitler. Marteenpr!ck is promoting a totalitarian state just like the Nazis did in 1933. Marteen believes in the Nazi mindset. Anybody who opposed state tyranny and Hitler's occupation of nations would be incarcerated or terminated, just like Marteen is proposing.

Marteen would have had the French Resistance exterminated, he would have had Padraig Pearse and Michael Collins and Nelson Mandela, Che Guevara hung drawn and quartered, in fact all revolutionaries would fit into his definition of "evil".

Marteen's simple formula STATE TYRANNY =GOOD DEFENDERS OF RIGHTS = EVIL

Who gets to decide whether a parimilitary group deserves the label of 'freedom fighters'?

Not if the Nazis had had more, better and bigger guns.

While such commemorations are allowed to take place, of those guilty of crimes against decency and humanity, as well as their evil objects, we are allowing a nursery to breed future conflict.

Such laws would send a strong message of condemnation of the horrible deeds of the past, and confirm that our Nation will do all in its power to prevent armed force republicanism in the future, in addition to the commitment the Nation made in 1998.
There have been anti-Irish laws since the English first came here, the Statutes of Kilkenny, Poyning's law, The Penal laws, etc. etc. What makes you think that yet another law to suppress the idea of Irish freedom will have any more effect than its predecessors?

mairteenpak, why do Republicans exist????? Because the British State interfered in Irish Affairs, robbed IRISH People of thier land, managed countless campaigns of terror against Catholics, killed half a population through greed, murdered 13 People marching for Civil Rights, need I go on??? There would be no need for Republicans had the British kept out of Ireland. I know what your goona say, ' well what about the Republican Campaign of Terror on Prods????? ', well here's your answer, it wasn't right. Two wrongs don't make a right, no matter who carries them out. And the Armed Struggle had it's place and could be justified many years ago, it wasn't because Republicans didn't get thier own way, it was because you were silenced or killed just because of your religion. But now that we have a Assembly working the rightway there's no need for it.
