Should Former Extremists be Exempt from Punishment

Should extremists who now claim to have seen the light be spared prosecution for having broken the law? This is with particular reference to the case of Hassan Butt. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/n ... 323753.stm

If they have committed a crime then they should face prosecution. If it is possible to prove that any change in their extremist views are genuine and not just an attempt to evade justice, this could be taken into account in their sentencing, if they are found guilty.

Should world leaders who have committed atrocities and engaged in wars under false pretense be prosecuted?

You're about as subtle as a fatwa

ANYONE who commits a crime should be punished.
Obviously, not all are - I believe it helps to be rich, but I can't be sure, having no personal experience of that condition...

Of course Bush, Blair et al should be prosecuted for their illegal wars against the Middle East, but I don't think that's ever going to happen. They are merely the ones executing a gameplan in a co-ordinated manner. Their actions alone are wrong but as they are fulfiling a wider strategy they won't be prosecuted.
Marxists, Feminists and Leftists operate on the basis of "liberating tolerance" - i.e. their ideas should be tolerated, and any opposition should be suppressed.
