In fairness to GSOC they have produced an excellent report---further enquiries to the tune of a million euros would not be justified when we have a housing crisis that needs immediate attention

OK, can we just be assured that the malfeasants will get their penalty points now?

    From now on, not retrospectively

We know the names of the main garda who wrote off the penalty points and we have a report backing this up. Call them in, present them with the evidence and ask for their resignations; the alternative being sacked and being fought aggressively through any court the crooked gardai takes the force to. Also tell them they will get a revenue audit of their bank account(s) and assets to determine if the penalty points were removed due to generous donations from the offending motorists.

The state wastes money on many things for example unvouched turning up money and goodbye money to politicians so I feel money spent on jailing or firing corrupt gardai would be money well spent and would hopefully send out a powerful message.
1m is minuscule in comparison to the Garda budget.

The overtime budget alone is 130m....I'm sure they'd manage just fine with 129m.

It's obvious to me that the Government has no interest whatsoever in curbing the antics of the Garda....1m would be a small price to pay if they were serious about it.

As for Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein...both of them were willing to impose a general election on us, all because of an insignificant e-mail which in the grand scheme of things had little or no relevance to the Garda's antics.

Callinan is gone, O'Sullivan is gone, Shatter and Fitzgerald are gone...but are we any closer to having an honest and accountable Police service ?

Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein were never in a better position to force a wide-ranging inquiry into the Garda.....their silence is deafening.
