This is crucial to the whole #FrancesFitzgerald saga: how did the Department of Justice not find the #McCabe emails straight away? https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/f...ion-1.3308241?

FG's authoritarian streak is showing up once again.

I said when George Lee left their cult, and the went ape, that they had an enormous intolerance of criticism of their political clique.

And today we see a massive guilt trip effort from FG. The people were wrong to demand that somebody on an outrageous salary be sacked for persistent incompetence and lying. Now we have Dinnymedia telling us Fitzgerald was the victim !!!!

The FG gang seemed jave found their inner blueshirt.

    Contempt for the people follows.

He and McDowell arrive to find that O'Sullivan's legal team are intent on an adversarial approach in an effort to attack his integrity and then his motives. All behind closed doors. The transcripts we see are some of, but not all of, the arguments SC for O'Sullivan Colm Smyth and witnesses use against McCabe.

We know that at a later point McCabe produced his recording. We know that O'Higgins listened to it. The Rooney questioning speaks for itself. Clearly, if you have been following the facts and are of sound mind, you would agree that the case presented by Colm Smyth is at best, fundamentally flawed, at worst, a complete and utter fabrication.

Hence the judge rejected this as inadmissible. How do we know this? Because the findings of the O'Higgins Inquiry do not question McCabe's integrity or motives. This is the way our justice system works.

I hope to God you never get jury duty.
Thank you Malbekh for your insightful posts on this. Have just reviewed a few, factually correct and informative.

This is naive, or disingenuous. McCabe, and Michael McDowell, would be well aware how Commissions work, evidence is given on oath, and credibility will of course be an issue.

He and McDowell arrive to find that O'Sullivan's legal team are intent on an adversarial approach in an effort to attack his integrity and then his motives.
Yes, McCabe was going to treated like any other witness, terrible I know. His testimony should just have been accepted.

We know that at a later point McCabe produced his recording. We know that O'Higgins listened to it. The Rooney questioning speaks for itself.
Yes, well, it's difficult to know what transpired about the tape. The fact is we are dealing with leaked portions of the transcript.

Clearly, if you have been following the facts and are of sound mind, you would agree that the case presented by Colm Smyth is at best, fundamentally flawed, at worst, a complete and utter fabrication.
What part of the case presented by Smyth are you referring to? From what I can see the judge accepted that McCabe had a grievance, that motivation/credibility were relevant where facts were in dispute, but that motivation etc only had a peripheral relevance to the piece the leak refers to, but that it would have relevance to other modules.

Hence the judge rejected this as inadmissible. How do we know this? Because the findings of the O'Higgins Inquiry do not question McCabe's integrity or motives.
See above. We don't know the judge rejected the credibility/motivation arguments right throughout. As I said, it's very difficult to know what went on when we are looking at selectively leaked portions.

The report of the inquiry included that some of the allegations made by McCabe were overstated and some were exaggerated.

The nasty Lynch mob are feeling a little sheepish this morning. It was all so exciting yesterday when they were hacking at the corpses and cheering.

Minister strung up. Garda still corrupt.

    Gobshítes.

Charlie came out, differently to Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald came out maintaining her stance against growing evidence.

Flanagan last night in Dail , apologised profusely to all in the House, more particularly AK and withdrew his comments on record which accused AK of a 'smear campaign'.
That is not characteristic of Flanagan.
He is a seasoned politician, he fights his corner.
But he saw how Fitzgerald, who dug heels in, was forced out.

Kevin Doyle said there was no logic as to why Flanagan launched his initial outburst directed at Kelly, and it came out of no-where, we now know why he was on edge.

    Flanagan apologised to everyone.

He's safe and secure, according to Journo Kevin Doyle, there wasn't the executionary tone that was used with Frances Fitzgerald, there is no mood in FF to let the Charlie Flanagan issue drag on, it will probably continue today and then dwindle.

Just to say firstly I haven't been following the matter at all closely. I know Talkingshops form from other issues, just as I know a mob when I see one, not including you in that by any means, but do you think she has claimed anything that isn't factually correct?

If so for clarity could you list briefly to give her a chance to reply just to that list, if not are you both not just talking differences in opinion and attitudes to which everyone is entitled without the mob working itself into its usual primitive frenzy?
