Well the prosecution doesn't believe that it takes a dozen blows from a bat and a brick to stop someone committing a deadly assault that leaves no marks at all. And that if you don't believe that story then you look at why they may concoct the story and why they might smash her husbands skull to bits. And then you hit the house and insurance claim and the effort to get the kids.

But surely that involves premeditation which is first degree murder, if they don't believe there was an assault or if they believe his wife took part for some personal benefit then it was premeditated.

I could be wrong but I think that this is actually a tool you apply to freshly laid cement to give it the appearance of brickwork.
No reason to have one in the bedroom as you say

EDIT: I could well be wrong about the paver

I haven't followed this, but surely after a separation you wouldn't want to let an ex upstairs? Or go upstairs at her place?

It's an unusual case in that I don't ever remember hearing of a similar one.
Was there ever a case in Ireland in living memory where a man's father in law killed him in circumstances similar to these?
The baseball bat present for the grandson sounds awfully convenient especially since he didn't give it to the boy that evening.

He said he didn't use the brick. He also lauged in court yesterday. He told the police at the first interview that Jason Corbett was not good enough for his daughter.

Molly will inherit 600,000 from an insurance policy if she is acquitted. It's in trust pending the result of the trial. Jason paid around 50,000 Euros to the Martens for the wedding.

Sure. Maybe Corbett's hair and blood independently embedded itself into the brick. It's a perfectly cromulant self defence argument.

That's what the father said yesterday. He didn't say if Molly struck as well. Just himself. Which is why he was asked yesterday if he was covering up for her.

She used the paving brick presumably. It was used many times according to the forensic blood expert. During all this altercation Thomas's wife never came to see why he didn't return to their bedroom nor did she dial 999 when hearing Jason being beaten to death, banging walls as he tried to get away from his attackers who going by the unbelievable amount of Jason's blood everywhere was a frenzied attack.
