Advantages:-

Save the billions wasted in the unwinnable war against crime.
Bring crime out into the open economy where it can be regulated and taxed.
Remove the illicit rebellious factor that attracts youth into crime in the first place.
Homeowners would be free to eliminate intruders on their property.
Remove the stigma of being branded a criminal.
Remove the burden of stress from criminals waiting for that early morning task force raid.
A more vivid, exciting, interesting and natural society for our children to grow up in.

Disadvantages:-

Unemployed lawyers, prison officers and judges

Nah, it should just be decriminalized. In that way civil cases can still be taken by victims of crime. And then since crime has been decriminalized, the crime will no longer exist so the civil suits will fall which will discourage future cases been taken. This will mean that the same end will have been achieved in eliminating crime without looking completely soft on it thus soliciting the support of moderates for the measure. Thats using your noggin
