    Balaclavas illegal??

Reading this report of a man convicted of IRA membership
    http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/mhmhgbqleyid/rss2/

I could not help but notice his past convictions, one for assault, but the other more interesting one, possession of a balaclava! Is this true, that it is a crime to own a balaclava, cause my mother used to send my brother and I off to primary school in balaclavas when it was really cold in the winter!

I can understand why they are not liked by the Gardai, but can a piece of clothing really be illegal?

On a simliar note, I've heard that non-lethal weapons such as batons or stun guns were also illegal. Any truth in that?

So, if someone wants to have a sword/baseball bat/golf club/wheel brace in their home for personal protection they are well within their rights to do so, but, try and keep a baton or stun gun and they'll lock you up. Would that be the correct anaylsis of the current law?

This is a load of ************************, balaclavas are not illegal, if someone wants to wear a balaclava 24/7 they can..... just don't wear it going into the local post office

    For crimes against fashion?
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.
