It appears that the Liberals may be dragging their heels on this one . Repeals of Harper's legislation badly needed.

Exactly its a legal minefield. A Labour MP in the UK is also trying to ban sex-for-free-accommodation arrangements in the UK. Not entirely clear what the Irish law means by "remuneration". Does it include in kind gifts? Because if it does, expect the cops to investigate your wedding rings soon.

Trudeau in terms of progressive liberal legislation is pre-occupied at the minute in getting canabis and marjiuana legalised for recreational use, which is of course also a just cause.
The way the law is being applied in Canada is that it is up to the individual province more or less, British Columbia, specificaly Vancouver, has staed we are not enforcing it, end off! The escort scene with consenting Canadian and French Canadian beauties is thriving in both Toronto and Montreal!
There have been vice operations where in particular, Asian Women, who have been coerced, has been clamped down on and this is a good thing!
I fully expect Harper's insane version opf The Nordick Model to be repealed!

Mariska Majoor, founder of the Dutch Prostitution Information Center (PIC) and PROUD, the Dutch union for sex workers, has been knighted in the Order of Orange-Nassau. She received her knighthood for her contribution to sex workers rights in The Netherlands which she has done for more than 20 years.

She received the royal decoration from the mayor of Amsterdam.

The Order of Orange-Nassau is a civil and military Dutch order of chivalry founded on 4 April 1892 by the Queen regent Emma, acting on behalf of her under-age daughter Queen Wilhelmina.

The Order is a chivalric order open to "everyone who has earned special merits for society". These are people who deserve appreciation and recognition from society for the special way in which they have carried out their activities.

I knlow we cannot give titles here as we are a Republic, but instead we could actually stop giving the likes of Ruhama - state money and above all that which was confiscated from sex workers by the courts!

This law in Ireland does make BIK arrangements illegal!

They gave a hospital to the nuns too. It's part of a Religious Right agenda. Labour isn't there to stop them.

I wonder if trade is down for escorts?
like a speeding ticket, sort of, if a cop turned up at your doorstep with footage of you visiting a lady it would be a tad worse than getting caught at the scene I'd think
the fear of getting a knock on the door or a call to a mobile from the cops a few days after your 'visit' I would think is a deterrent for most.

From a cursory glance on The Escort Ireland website, purely for research purposes, A few of the more prominent escorts have stopped or left, one Irish Lady who informed The Lovely Minister in a face to face meeting how dangerous this law is for sex worker safety, which of course fell on deaf ears and The Romanian Lady who AFAIK spoke to The Oireachtas Committee on Prostitution Law Reform, when they were trying to pretend they hadn't gagged them!

There appears to be a lot of punters, getting increasingly paranoid and some are now lying low until they get to see a clearer picture of how this insane law is to be enforced.

Surprisingly there are no reports of punters being arrested under it yet, may be they are not being reported on that forum, but even so, we would hear about such arrests.

It may well be down to Laura Lee's upcoming case against The Nordie Version of it on the grounds that it seriously compromises sex worker safety!

Some ladies posted on the relevant forum that while a punter if caught coming out of or in or technically going into a sex worker's premises can be fined at a max of €500, a sex worker, during a brothel raid (where 2 or more sex workers are sharing an apartment) perhaps in the same scenario as the punter getting caught, can be fined at a now increased amount of upto €5K and AFAIK have their earnings/ life savings confiscated (and given by the courts to Ruhama in cases who eagerly accept the cash)! This of course, all happens under the guise of an insane law pretending to protect sex workers.

Also hotels are getting much arseier in allowing escorts to strut their stuff on their premises. Indeed there have been reports of hotels knowingly accepting bookings for a week from escorts and then kicking them out after a day and keeping the money they had paid for a room - nasty pimping!

Surprisingly, despite the extremely high levels of police corruption, we all know exists in this country, there have been no recent reports of guards trying to extort money from sex workers or clients yet!

seems really backward to be honest. I don't think it will solve anything. Typical Ireland.
