Neo-fascist group on Youth Defence March collecting names & info on Pro-Choice marchers

One of micro neo-fascist groups in Ireland, the so-called Nationalist Movement, some of whose associates post here, last Tuesday posted photographers of some pro-choice campaigners on their website looking for members to identify them and supply the details.

    • View topic - Irish National photographs left wing scum at Pro Life rally

A poster called 'Fianna Saor' wrote "names and info will be sent accordingly....."

'Blueshirt boy' posted Reds are such scrawny, pasty b*stards, and nearly always middle to upper-middle class too. "Working-class warriors"? Ha ha fecking ha. Hasta la vista antifascista. Hope you smash 'em up again, John."

A woman calling herself 'Emma' posted "now we must show them that we will take no sh*t." (She must count as one of the dumbest of dumb posters. It is one thing being caught potentially being caught posting comments that could be prosecutable, but to do it using your real name and photo is stunningly stupid!)

'J Kavanagh' commented 'With over 500 views for each photo the names are starting to come in. Well done lads.'

It is important to point out that Youth Defence has many disturbing links with extreme organisations at home and abroad, and has used heavies from dissident IRAs to police events in the past:

    • Úna Bean Nic Mhathúna, co-founder of Youth Defence, is the sister of Larry White, a member of the republican paramilitary group Saor Éire who was killed in a feud with the Official IRA.
    • In 1992 on Thomas Street and in 1994 at the Dáil, members of Youth Defence attacked and assaulted pro-choice campaigners, causing many injuries.
    • In 1998 an elderly member of staff of the Marie Stopes clinic on Blessington Street was physically attacked.
    • In 1999 members of staff of the Irish Family Planning Association were assaulted, the association’s clinic on Cathal Brugha Street was occupied by hundreds of Youth Defence supporters, and the IFPA’s director, Tony O’Brien, was continually harrassed.

However the vast vast majority of those who took part in their march would have been unaware of Youth Defence's links and associations, and would have thought it a kosher, albeit extreme, pro-life organisation. Neither, I presume would most supporters of the march on here have been aware of the links.

The idea of the far right trawling for names of those who oppose them and info on them is chilling, but not surprising, as is the fact that they were using their position among marchers at the Youth Defence march to gather the information.

Youth Defence and its supporters needs to deal with the cancer in its midst that belong to neo-Nazi movements who threaten those who oppose them.

It might be a start of some explanation was given for why names and information on pro-choice campaigners was being gathered, and whether they disown the contents of that website linked above.

Some information on Youth Defence's associations with the far right and dissident republicans.

One leading and well-known neo-Nazi at a Youth Defence rally, identifying himself and his links to the 'Democratic Rights Movement'. (The movement, true to form, split in a violent break-up between members, and became the so-called 'Irish Nationalist Brotherhood', some of whose supporters post here.)

Tommy, even though your post is a piss poor rip-off of the original hacking of Youth Defence's website the other day, your obsession with trying to associate the IRA with anything 'bad' backfires here. You, if we're to believe you were once a journalist, know fine well who Saor Eire were, and who their tiny membership were - names and all. You disingenuously associate 'dissident IRAs' ( whatever that is) with completely unrelated events involving the co-founder of Youth Defence because her brother was killed by the Official IRA???

You remind me of Eamonn Dunphy's style of biography - his books were good if only he could contain himself by not trying to force his own opinions down our throats and just stuck to the facts.

[QUOTE=oldadg;6983813]If you go to a pro-choice demo, expect to be name-checked online so that future employers can avoid you like a 40-foot barge pole.

There is no evidence whatsoever that the purpose of collecting names is so that violence can be dished out. (even your bullet points about alleged assaults are dubious -- were there any prosecutions? Do you even have a newspaper report of these "assaults"?)

For the record, I agree with naming and shaming pro-choicers.

Why isn't the OP condemning the much more recent collection of names by left wing hackers?

OP is pure smear. Still, I'm sure it's good for the site's hit rate

I am old enough to remember the Youth Defence thugs wielding hurleys and attack a meeting back in the 90s, Are they still being little fascist boys and girls?

The silence of Youth Defence supporters on here about the actions of their neo-fascist supporters collecting names and information about members of the public who oppose them is revealing. So much for their pretence at ethnics and honesty.

It is not unknown Tommy for party leaders and headquarters down through the years to gather the names of TDs opposed to them. Is that fascism Tommy?
Tommy believes that pro-life supporters are Fascists. Hence the smear campaign. The 60,000 who protested on Saturday week are Fascists as far as Tommy is concerned.
By the way Tommy: Are you your brothers keeper?
